Two students were feared killed yesterday when students of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State yesterday embarked on a violent protest over alleged hike in tuition fees and student union election.

The students in their hundreds gathered outside the premises with others suspected to be cultists armed with AK 47, shortguns and other dangerous weapons and stormed the school premises.

The Academic Staff Union of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri yesterday called on the management of the institution to set up a panel of inquiry to unravel the cause of Wednesday’s students violent protest that

CURRENT NEWS IN FEDPONEK:

1). There would be a
general clean-up inside
the school premises
tomorrow morning being
28th of January, 2011
by 8am. All staffs &
students are enjoined to
be present for the
clean-up inside the
school premises.
2). Orientation of Newly
admitted students would
commence from the
2nd-4th of February,
2011. There would be no
lectures for all ND 1 &
HND 1 students during
the duration of the
Orientation.
3). The Matriculation
ceremony for students
of ND 1 & HND 1 would
hold officially on
Saturday the 19th of
February, 2011. All
students should take
note of the above date.
